How to read a business internet quote

A business internet quote gives you more than a monthly price. Look at the cost, commitment, speed, and installation details together.

What should I look at?

These are the details that matter most when comparing quotes:

What you seeWhat it means
Monthly priceThe recurring price for the service.
Setup feeA one-time charge associated with getting the service installed.
TermHow long the agreement lasts.
Install dateWhen the service is expected to be installed.
Speed and featuresThe connection speed and any included features or add-ons.

The lowest monthly price isn’t always the lowest overall cost. A quote with a lower setup fee or a shorter term may be a better fit, depending on what your business needs.

Look at the total cost

When comparing similar services, consider the full cost over the term rather than the monthly price alone.

For example, a service at $200 per month with a $500 setup fee costs $5,300 over two years. A service at $215 per month with no setup fee costs $5,160 over the same period.

The difference may be small, but looking at the full term makes the comparison clearer.

Look beyond the price

A lower price isn’t helpful if the service doesn’t meet your needs.

Before choosing, check:

  • Speed — Is it enough for the way your business uses the internet?
  • Features — Does it include what you need, such as static IPs?
  • Equipment — Is equipment included, rented, or purchased separately?
  • Installation — Does the expected installation timing work for your business?
  • Construction — Does the installation require additional work at your location?

Before you choose

You can review your quotes before making a decision. Take the time to compare the service, total cost, term, and installation details—not just the monthly price.

Your results stay in your account for 30 days, so you can review them with a colleague or decision-maker before you order.
