Service Orders

Your first bill from your provider

Your first bill may be different from the monthly price you saw in your quote. The difference is often because the first bill covers a partial month, a month in advance, or one-time charges.

Why is the first bill different?

Your provider bills you directly under the agreement you signed. Depending on the provider and billing schedule, your first invoice may include several charges at once.

You may seeWhat it means
Setup or installation feeA one-time charge for installing the service.
Partial monthService from the day you went live through the end of the billing period.
Monthly serviceYour regular monthly charge, sometimes billed in advance.
Taxes and surchargesCharges added by your provider and applicable regulations.
EquipmentEquipment you rent monthly or purchase as part of the service.

Exactly what appears on your first bill depends on your provider, service, and agreement.

Why doesn’t the bill match the quote?

The price shown in your quote is the service price for the option you selected. Your provider’s invoice may also include taxes, surcharges, equipment, installation, or other charges described in your agreement.

The first bill can also cover a different period than the monthly price shown in your quote.

What should I check?

  • The monthly service charge matches your agreement.
  • The service address and account name are correct.
  • One-time charges appear only once.
  • The billing period lines up with when your service went live.
  • Taxes, surcharges, and equipment charges are consistent with the agreement.

If something looks wrong

Start with your provider. They issued the invoice and manage your service account.

  1. Compare the bill with your agreement

Check the charge, billing period, and any one-time fees against the terms you signed.

  2. Contact your provider

Ask about anything you don’t recognize or believe is incorrect. They can explain the charge and make any necessary adjustment.

  3. Escalate if needed

If the issue isn’t resolved, ask for the appropriate billing escalation path. Keep the ticket number from your first call.
