Service Orders

When construction is required

Sometimes a provider needs to build part of the network before it can install service at your address. Construction can add significant time to an installation.

Why would construction be needed?

Construction is usually needed when the provider doesn’t have a usable network path to your building or suite.

Common reasons include:

  • The building has never had this type of service.
  • Existing facilities are full, damaged, or don’t reach your suite.
  • Your service requires a fiber path that isn’t already in the building.
  • A site survey finds that the actual route differs from the provider’s records.

Construction may involve permits, new cabling, digging, or coordination with your landlord and local authorities.

Telecom.live™’s Terms state that installations requiring construction commonly take 60 to 90 business days and may take longer.

What does construction mean for your order?

What changesWhat to expect
TimelineInstallation can take months rather than weeks. Permits and other approvals can add time.
PriceThe provider may revise the price if construction changes the cost of delivering service.
AvailabilityA provider may decide not to build and decline the order. Other providers may still be available at your address.
Your involvementYou may need to provide building access, obtain landlord approval, or participate in a site visit.

What can you do to help?

  1. Get your landlord involved early

If approval is required for cabling or construction, getting it early can prevent delays.

  2. Choose one point of contact

Have someone available to answer access and building questions quickly.

  3. Keep your current service running

Don’t disconnect an existing service until the new one is installed and working.

  4. Consider an interim option

Another service at the same address may be available sooner and can keep your business connected while construction is underway.

What if you don’t want to wait?

Your quotes remain in your account for 30 days, so you can review other options available at your address.

You’re not required to continue with an order if the timeline no longer works for your business.
