How to prepare for installation
A little preparation can help your installation go smoothly.
What should you arrange before the visit?
Your provider will schedule the installation and send a technician. Before the visit, make sure you have:
- Someone available on site who can meet the technician and provide access.
- A place for the equipment such as a communications closet, rack, or wall.
- Power near the equipment and a path for the cable to your network.
- Building access including keys, fobs, loading areas, or elevator access.
- Building requirements such as contractor rules, insurance requirements, or permitted working hours.
Can the installation date change?
Yes. Your provider sets and confirms the installation schedule, and the date can change.
Don’t cancel your existing service until the new service is installed and working. See install date changes.
What if the technician can’t complete the installation?
Sometimes additional access, cabling, or construction is needed. Your provider will explain what’s required and arrange the next steps.
If construction is required, installation can take considerably longer. See construction timelines.
